The Sir Michael Straker Café

After watching a fantastic drama or musician in the Sage, you must need some time to sit somewhere, have a break, aftertaste the moment just passed, enjoy the beautiful river scenery, and drink a cup of coffee.

If you agree that it is a good idea, The Sir Michael Straker Café can be your best choice.

Designed by Sir Norman Foster and opened in 2004, the Sage is home to some of the world's best performers and musicians. Although it's only just across the river from Newcastle's central quayside, the Sage is something of a destination venue. It is actually quite a romantic setting in terms of both the venue and its riverside location, imposingly high up on the south bank of the Tyne, overlooking its bigger neighbour, Newcastle. A stroll across the river on the Millennium Bridge, or a drive over the Tyne Bridge and you're there.
It is hard to think of a better place like the Sage for killing time. You might like to drop into the Sir Michael Straker Café, which located right in the heart of the spectacular glazed concourse, and commands unrivalled views of the River Tyne and its surrounding cityscape.

It serves from early till late, offering a wide range of snacks and drinks. Specially offer freshly ground coffee that is organic, Fair Trade and Rainforest Alliance compliant, whilst the in-house bakery produces a range of snacks for everyone. Throughout the day, the Café also offers hot food, from freshly made soup to an ever-changing array of hearty hot meals.

The sage is free access for public at anytime. You don't have to be attending a concert to drop in for a drink, a snack or a meal.

So, why not just go for the coffee and take pleasure in the sounds of live music being made around you while you enjoy the views?
